German Masters Preview

Ali Carter, the defending champion

The German Masters is a ranking event, which was played 3 times, 2011 (Mark Williams was the winner), 2012 (Ronnie O`Sullivan was the winner) and 2013, when Ali Carter beats Marco Fu 9-6 in the final.
This one, will feature many of the top players, but unfortunately, Ronnie lost in the Qualifier.
The event will start Wednesday (29) and will finish day 2 (Sunday).

Let's see the favorites to do the semi-finals:

Semi Finalist 1:

This part of of the draw have others players playing better than Ali Carter, and the reigning champion, will have a tough encounter with Dechawat Poomjaeng, but I believe that The Captain can get a extra motivation to play in Germany. He is the defending champion, and he played well last year, losing many matches in silly mistakes.
But Stuart Bingham who changed his way to play and now is on top of the game, is one who can beat Carter, but he will need to play Barry Hawkins before the quarter-finals when he can face Carter.
Others names like Jimmy White, Xiao Guodong, Michael White and Ryan Day can do good runs here.

Semi Finalist 2:

This is the best part of the draw. We will see matches like Morris v M Williams, Allen v McGill, Brecel v Joe Perry, J Robertson v Selby.
Many favorites will lose in the earlier stages, because here are many of them. Is hard to say one to do the Semi-Final but Selby is playing a fantastic snooker (he can do more than it) and is just some degrees away for a good title.
But anyway, he will need a great run to kiss the trophy. He need to beat Jimmy Robertson, a great young player in the first round / last 64. In the last 32 / second round, he probably will play Kurt Maflin, another who is doing great. In the last 16, The Jester from Leicester can play Joe Perry or Allen, another test for him. But he is doing a nice job, and I can't see he losing there.
For the quarter-final, Mark Selby can play Ding, Mark Williams or John Higgins. Ding don't made good ones at the last 2 Big Events, and didn't play the Championship League so far, so I can't have some prediction from Ding's game, and Selby's moment is great.
If Selby play what he can, he will surely survive for this hard test to reach in the Semis.

Semi Finalist 3:

Neil Robertson, is playing the best game of his life, but he lost to Maguire at The Masters so I am not pretty sure that he will be in the semis.
Neil got better and was a machine to make centuries at the Championship League, but he has not won any group so far, when Maguire wins his first and only group of the Championship League winning all his matches.
Anyway I have to say that the World Number one still is the favorite for the semis.
Neil will not have many tough matches to reach the quarters, but he can face Marco Fu in the Last 16.
Maguire also don't have a hard way for the quarter, but I think his run in this event will have a end against Neil Robertson in the quarters.

Semi Finalist 4:

Obviously, the former UK Champion isn't playing his best but,  Judd played well in the Championship League, and just was a bit unfortunate with some of the recent results.
Judd showed in the Championship League that he isn't only a talented player, he is practicing hard and trying his best again. Of course I don't live with him and it's only my opinion.
Judd can have a problem with Shaun Murphy in the last 16, but it's all about Shaun's confidence. The Magician is playing good but he looked frustrate after his 6-1 loss against Selby in The Masters Semi-Finals.
Holt have a "clean" draw to reach to the quarters, and it can be good for Michael Holt who is living a good moment, but his run surely will end against Judd or Murphy in the quarters.

Champion: I think if Selby continue playing at the way he is playing recently, he can and will win it. He have a very hard draw, and can face the reigning champion in the semis, but I think Carter's run can't be extended to the final.
I think Neil can reach to the final, and will into it like the favorite but Selby's way to play is good for a best of 17 frames, and he have a better tactical game, and I think it is also the Selby's turn.

I'm looking forward for this event, but I will miss Ronnie and I will not have many time to watch. I will see the max that I can on YouTube, at night.
The tournament will have EuroSport coverage.
