World Snooker Championship
Emotional Bingham will face Fearless Murphy in the Final
Can he upset the World like Murphy did in 2005?
Have you ever imagined a Final like this before? Me neither. |
A Championship that everyone expected to be wide open, has been worth of the expectation, Selby, O`Sullivan, Robertson, Trump, no one of these could make it till the Final, it was Masters Champion Shaun Murphy and Shanghai Masters Champion Stuart Bingham who made their way through for a place in Today's Final.
An All-English Semi-Final yesterday saw Murphy beats Hawkins 17-9 in a match that became only the 5th in Crucible's history to have 8 Century Breaks in, four by each, while Stuart Bingham passed a nail-biting 17-16 win over Trump. Bingham played some solid stuff to build a 16-14 lead, having held a three frame lead twice before in the match. But Trump was never going to give it up and made terrific Back-to-Back Centuries to force a decider.
In the decider, Bingham had a decent chance and built a sizeable lead but missed and gave Trump a chance, anyway he wasn't capable of prevail into it and then Bingham took the best from a chance he found after pot an unbelievable plant in a red touching the cushion.
The Final
Shaun Murphy is far more experienced than Bingham, he's won this Championship back in 2005, he was Runner-Up in 2009 and considering how well he's playing here this year, it's gonna take the very best of Bingham to beat him.
But I don't think pressure will affect Bingham neither, he's been on a significantly evolution, which I noted back in 2013 when he pushed Ronnie all the way in the Champion of Champions Final just to lose 8-10 in the end. From that Bingham has been capable of clinching frames in one visit, has won many titles and is now much more adapted with the Big Stage.
The Masters Champion Shaun Murphy - a recent Triple Crown conqueror - came to the Crucible this year not up to play safety shots, he's been avoiding safety battles going for nearly everything, but the fact is that time after time he turns a half chance into a frame winning break, and if I look back to his previous match against Hawkins, I cannot see anytime Barry didn't lose the frame after a simple mistake. Anyway I think if Murphy's safety game is required in the Final, he's not gonna be down for that, so I believe he'll be dominating all the way, unless Bingham gets off a good start, because his strength at this year's World Championship has been the fact he's not taking shots which can put him in risk, he's not trying different things and not taking steps bigger than his legs. Maybe the only time he knocked himself in trouble was in that successfully plant attempt in the decider against Trump, which means he's up for everything from here, but not taking everything as a bonus, that's how he knocked out the contenders O`Sullivan and Judd.
So if Murphy gets off a bad start it will be twice difficult for him to comeback, but if it doesn't happen I think Shaun will be comfortable all the way out there.
Prediction: Murphy to win 18-10.
