ROSB Catch Up #001
Over the last few months, I`ve been a bit absent from the Blog, dedicating mainly to the page. That's because six years ago I started on Facebook a way for Brazilians to read about Snooker in Portuguese, as there wasn't any before that.
My main objective still is to bring Snooker to Brazilian people as it's the sport I love and it'd be great to see it grow in Brazil. But I've come an unbelievable way since. I started the Blog, the page still is Brazilian's biggest of the kind and inspired a few others, quite a few important people around Snooker has featured in the Blog, I've got the support of WPBSA's chairman Jason Ferguson - who's given us a few interviews and insights -, and I even featured at the Crucible in 2017 in a video exhibited to celebrate the 40 years of World Snooker Championship at the so famous theatre of dreams!
And of course, the ultimate was interacting with Ronnie O`Sullivan himself so many times. The most remarkable one being the first time we talked on the radio and he recognised me from the Blog and from Twitter.
It's unbelievable to know that when I visit the Crucible or other Snooker events people will know me, and that I can present myself to my biggest idol and he'll have heard of me before.
My life ambition is of course, visiting the Crucible with my own credential and get to know Ronnie and watch him play there.
However, recently I've been far too busy - it's difficult to manage time between study, work, family and social life.
I've caught myself having to choose between watching Snooker or reporting it, and I've reported about matches that I didn't even watch, only read about. I can't do it really, so I've decided to slow down the gears with reporting.
From now on, my priority will be watch Snooker, and publish the essential on the page, like tournament winners, 147s and very relevant news. As for the Blog, I've always had a big box of ideas, but to write a text, edit, and spread it takes a fair time of work that I don't have.
So, I'm launching the new "ROSB Catch Up", a new feature where I can fit most of the stuff I have, like comparatives, the "ROSB History", opinions, and the Season Review and Previews that are so popular here.
I'll limit the ROSB Catch Up to one per month, and try - but not promise - to have one out each month. Also, I'll always look to eventually having something else here, like interviews.
It's not ideally what I wanted, but you must give what you put yourself up to, and without financial support that's the best I can do to keep doing something I love, which is reporting Snooker, not giving up the dream to make a living off it one day, but concentrate on watch the game, which is what I love in first place.
Let's see whether it works or not, but I'll definitely insist on it for a few months and see what happens. This feature will allow me to talk all about Snooker, freely, giving opinions, reporting, commenting news and whatever I like in a personal way - what in fact has always been the reason I created this blog, to write opinions and insights.
